Within the editing system there is a chaotic, organic substance called story that must be shaped, molded, and nurtured into existence using intuition and while trying to be truthful to the material. As Dede Allen said, “I cut with my gut”. It is this concept that most fascinates Melissa as a professional; the balance between the gut and the intellect. Editing is about perception and emotive response, Melissa’s aspiration is to be a key collaborator within the process.
